Referral Diver
The Referral Diver certification is the first course in becoming a competent and proficient Open Water Diver. The course is divided into two components; knowledge development and confined water training:
- Knowledge development comprises of self-study through e-learning as well as two classroom sessions with a certified Open Water Instructor
- Confined water training is conducted over one-two days at the Carson City Aquatic Center
- Once students have passed all of the pool skills they will then be able to move on and complete their open water dives at a different SSI facility anywhere in the world

Course Fees:
$400 includes certification card and referral form to different destination, all online student materials and gear rental.
Students need to purchase: Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Boots and Gloves - all available in store
Prior to the start of your course, please come to the shop for a professional fitting

Student Prerequisites:
Minimum age: 10 years old
After Certification:
- Open water training dives for all SSI programs must be completed within six (6) months of the last academic or in-water training session.
- If it has been more than six (6) months from the issue date of the Referral Diver certification, a qualified SSI Professional must conduct a re-evaluation (both knowledge and skill review) to determine if the student is sufficiently proficient to continue to the open water training dives.
- If it has been more than 12 months since the student’s last in-water session, the student must complete a Scuba Skills Update and retake the Open Water Diver final exam.
